PG Tips joins the raft of brands floating stuff down the Thames with giant topiary Monkey
PG Tips is amplifying its ongoing green tea push today (16 May) by towing a giant topiary version of its Monkey mascot down the Thames in London.
The stunt, which was devised by W Communications, hopes to 'energise' commuters passing by the river on their way to work. The two-storey, six-metre high structure is made of 110,486 fabricated green leaves.
Londoners caught onto the stunt's social media appeal, tweeting their takes on the iconic green ape.

PG Tips Green Tea sampling activity is also taking place in Waterloo Station today, led by iD Experiential. The Unilever company, which is injecting a total of £3m into its green tea push, hopes the live initiative will draw attention to its forthcoming 'Green Paper' report – a study into the benefits of using the colour green in the work and home.
PG Tips is the latest in a long line of brands to sail large objects down the London river, joining the likes of eBay (giant birthday cake), Airbnb (fully functioning house) and the Croatian National Tourist Board (miniature castle).
