Mark Wahlberg talks ‘Terms and Conditions’ in AT&T Unlimited Plus campaign
Mark Wahlberg is helping get the word out there about the new Unlimited Plus streaming plan from AT&T in a new campaign created by BBDO. The campaign, called ‘Terms and Conditions’, features several spots that have Wahlberg playing up “entertainment on your terms”.
The feature 90-second spot of the same name shows Wahlberg wandering through movie sets while cars careen in the background, characters walk with him, live shows happen around him, and characters from major shows interact with him.
“We, the entertainment-loving people of America, have upgraded our terms and conditions,” he said.
It goes on to say that television will no longer be defined by a TV, that it will be multi-screen, across all our devices; that we want our shows and movies when we want them, on demand; we want all our favorite shows and live channels; we need internet (along with food and water) to live; we want unlimited entertainment; and “we just want all our stuff the way we want all our stuff – that’s not too much to ask, is it?”
It’s tagged with AT&T bringing you DirecTV, internet and wireless all on your terms – entertainment your way.
Two complementary spots are “Rooms” talking about how all rooms should be TV rooms, and “Unlimited” where you can stream unlimited action and “punch unlimited robots” (which Wahlberg does).
Cameo appearances are made by Tracy Morgan, Rob Corddry as his “Ballers” character and James Marsden (getting shot by multiple arrows) as his “Westworld” character.
The high-powered action and comedy spots – which will run across TV, print and digital – makes a statement that AT&T is transforming itself into an entertainment company, not just a phone company.
“Only AT&T gives you your live channels and DVR on your devices, data-free,” said Brad Bentley, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, AT&T Entertainment Group in a press release. “And, there’s no one more authentic to show how AT&T does entertainment your way, than Mark Wahlberg – a no-nonsense entertainer himself.”
